ONE OF CINCINNATI’S MOST ACCLAIMED LIVING ARTISTS, CEDRIC MICHAEL COX, TO PRESENT 20 YEARS OF WORK IN RETROSPECTIVE EXHIBIT
Acclaimed Cincinnati artist Cedric Michael Cox will celebrate his two-decade career at Caza Sikes Gallery this fall with a comprehensive exhibit of works old and new.
The exhibition opening will be held on Friday, September 11 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday, September 12 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The show will feature over 20 new works from the artist, and a selection of borrowed paintings from private collections tracing his 20-year career as an artist in Cincinnati.
Throughout the past two decades, Cox’s work has been exhibited at major regional and national institutions, including the Contemporary Arts Center of Cincinnati, The Weston Art Gallery, The Columbus Art Museum, Dayton Art institute, Five Myles Gallery in Brooklyn, Museum of Science and Industry and Gallery Guichard in Chicago, and The Taft Museum of Art. He recently completed a series of 64 paintings for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
This exhibit, titled “The Vivid Voice”, will chronicle Cox’s composition style, technique, major influences and changes to his approach over the past two decades. A full-color exhibition catalogue of the work included in the show will be available for pre-purchase and featured on Caza Sikes website in early September. Accompanying the show will be a virtual walk-through of all the works. The Vivid Voice will run through the month of September at Caza Sikes located at 3078 Madison Road, in the Oakley neighborhood of Cincinnati (45209).
Due to the current social distancing measures in our community, the opening for this exhibition will take place both outdoors and indoors. Guests may comfortably view the show while maintaining safety measures. All visitors inside the gallery must wear masks to adhere to federal and state mandated guidelines.
