tantrazawadi.com<\/a><\/p>\nTANTRA-zawadi \u2013 2020 Brooklyn Arts Fund Grantee<\/strong><\/p>\nTantra-zawadi,<\/strong> is the author of three books of poetry (\u201califepoeminprogress\u201d published by Chuma Spirit Books, \u201cGathered at Her Sky,\u201d and \u201cBubbles: \u00a0One Conscious Breath,\u201d published by Poets Wear Prada). \u00a0She is an educator, international performance poet, and has presented to standing room audiences around the world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nTantra-zawadi has performed original works off-Broadway including the staged reading of To Face It; and featured at The Badilisha Poetry X-Change Festival in Cape Town, South Africa,\u00a0The New York Public Library at\u00a0<\/span>Lincoln Center<\/span>,\u00a0\u00a0The\u00a0<\/span>American Museum of Natural History<\/span>, The Montserrat Poetry Festival, The Daniel Sorano National Theatre in Dakar, Senegal, Never Again Royal Night in the UK, The Great Falls International\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Word Festival, The Austin International Poetry Festival and the Amsterdam Dance Event, just to name a few.<\/span><\/p>\nTantra-zawadi is a 2020 Brooklyn Arts Fund Grantee for her forthcoming project \u201cBlack Power Baby Blues,\u201d a pushcart Prize nominee for her poem \u201cGirl,\u201d a member of the spoken word trio Precious Gift, recipient of the Kings County District Attorney\u2019s Women\u2019s History Month Award; and in 2014, received the honor of Pan African Princess. \u00a0She has also garnered residences at Smith College with the Senegal-America Project, and as a participant in E|MERGE Interdisciplinary Collaborative Residency. As a mentor for the Girl-Child Network Worldwide, she is donating a portion of the proceeds from her books to GCN.<\/span><\/p>\nTantra-zawadi performs regularly with The Senegal-America Project, is a poetry and creative writing workshop facilitator, and appears in several global music compilations, anthologies and publications including Essence Magazine. She is the director of two short documentaries, and her poem and video \u201cScarlet Waters,\u201d was featured on the Product(RED) video wall to raise awareness for HIV\/AIDS in Africa.<\/span><\/p>\nWorks in progress include several spoken word collaborations, dramatic stage performances, a new book of poetry \u201cOkay Baby\u201d dedicated to her late father, and the newly released \u201cWord 2 Word\u201d poetry E-book with the Senegal-America Project.<\/span><\/p>\n————————————
