Pacheanne Anderson and Robyn Orovwuje-Forbes will receive the Christie’s Education Reginald Browne Joint Scholarship to study MSc Art, Law and Business and MA Art History and Art World Practice respectively. Covering full tuition fees and a living expenses bursary for the academic year 2019/2020, this is the first year such Scholarships have been awarded, thanks to the generosity of financier Reginald Browne.

“I am pleased to partner with Christie’s Education to provide opportunities for diverse candidates to gain entry into the art business. The motivation behind this initiative is to expand scholarship in the study of the visual arts, which will, in turn broaden the expertise within the industry,“ said Reginald Browne.

Scholarship recipient Pacheanne Anderson is a writer, multi-disciplinary artist and curator, creating work that aims to highlight the Queer, Intersex and Trans People of Colours’ experiences. Having graduated from Brighton University, Pacheanne has exhibited films and installation work in various QITPoC-centered spaces, and is ready to bring the experiences as an artist to the forefront as a curator. “Receiving the scholarship is an important step in my career, which is steered towards creating social and economic equality in the commercial art market for young black artists and art professionals,” commented Pacheanne.

Robyn Orovwuje-Forbes graduated in 2017 from the University of Cambridge in Modern and Medieval Languages. Throughout her studies, followed by two years gaining valuable commercial professional experience, Robyn has continued to nurture an interest in art which she always hoped to explore in more depth. “The scholarship means I can follow my dreams of working in the art world,” remarked Robyn.

The Christie’s Education Reginald Browne Joint Scholarship is one element of our commitment to expanding opportunities for students from all backgrounds, and making learning and employment opportunities in the art world accessible to a more diverse range of candidates. Applications for this scholarship are still open in New York and are assessed on academic ability and financial need.
