Born and raised in Brooklyn, Shabazz began photographing at the age of 15 to document his peers. As his practice continues 40 years later, Shabazz bears witness to the evolution of his community with a goal to \u201ccontribute to the preservation of world history and culture.\u201d Like Gordon Parks, he prioritizes portraying his subjects with honor and dignity.
