One of BAIA Foundation’s 2022 initiatives is instituting marketing assistance for African American Museums and Cultural Centers.

Founded in 1959, The National Conference of Artists began as a national organization of African-American artists, educators, historians, museum personnel, students, collectors, and supports of art. The NCA serves to preserve, promote and support African-American culture through the reflection and creative expression of African American artists.

The Michigan Chapter of NCA was founded in 1974. The organization networks with Michigan residents and Black artists across the globe to include their creativity and experiences in the awareness of art. In this awareness, NCA encourages artists to be challenged in new format, diverse media, and pose thematic issues.

Its programs include scholarships, workshops, mini conferences, master classes, exhibitions, and career workshops for the youth. For professional artists, NCA offers exhibition opportunities via artist forums, exhibitions, workshops, conferences, and lecture series. These opportunities include local and national exposure for artists to showcase their talents.

NCA’s ongoing mural projects offer opportunities for local artists and NCA artists to showcase their work to the public. Visitors and can also access printed publications of artists’ works and along with artists, attend educational seminars and workshops highlighting marketing, proposal writing, and resume preparation. There are opportunities for artists to network and receive consulting to community groups, collectors, institutions, and corporations.

The National Conference of Artists highlights current exhibitions with discussions on historical and contemporary art issues in their lectures and forums series held by artists and collectors.
