One of BAIA Foundation’s 2022 initiatives is instituting marketing assistance for African American Museums and Cultural Centers.

The African Diaspora includes every territory on the globe where Africans voluntarily migrated to or were forcibly taken to. Along with our bodies, we also carried our culture with us: our language, our traditions and rituals, our spiritual beliefs, our foodways, etc. It includes the U.S., yes, but also the Caribbean, South America, Spain, France, England, Canada, and more. And there’s a museum to honor that entire blanket of our existence in this world. It’s called the Museum of the African Diaspora, and it’s located in San Francisco, California.

The museum inspires conversation and learning through contemporary art, poetry, learning programs, and more. The museum extends its lens to include a global recognition of African Diaspora culture and heritage. Becoming a member of MoAD means joining in uplifting their mission by communing with fellow art enthusiats, educators, philanthropists, and community members.

Since opening in 2005, MoAD has provided a gathering space for local arts, generously providing free admission to low-income members of the community. The museum’s exhibitions currently include Dwellers: Native One by artist Njideka Akunyili Crosby to honor Earth Day, Elegies: Still Lifes in Contemporary Art, a group exhibition, and several others highlighting the African Dispora.
