Thompson, a New York-based artist versed in painting, drawing, collage, printmaking, and paper-making, was recently one of four individuals selected from a pool of over 300 applicants to complete a Jerome Emerging Artist Residency with The Anderson Center for Interdisciplinary Studies in Red Wing, Minnesota. In July, Thompson was also one of 92 New York artists to receive the 2021 New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) Artist Fellowship.

The Grant Hill Collection boasts a large collection of African American artists including the works of such iconic figures as Romare Bearden, Elizabeth Catlett, and John Biggers, along with pieces by Hughie Lee-Smith, Phoebe Beasely, Malcolm Brown, Edward Jackson, John Coleman, and Arthello Beck, Jr. From 2004 to 2007, Hill sponsored a seven-city tour of his extensive art collection, Something All Our Own: The Grant Hill Collection of African American Art, in leading museums and venues across the country. By sharing his prominent collection, Hill seeks to inspire youth to explore careers in the arts, beyond sports and entertainment, while showcasing his appreciation for those artists who have played a significant role in his life.

BAIA proudly congratulates Khalif Tahir Thompson on his extraordinary talent and his addition to The Grant Hill Collection.
