Georgette Baker  returns to Stella Jones Gallery  with a series of one and two dimensional collages.  Her visual narratives offer historical stories of resilience and resourcefulness by people of color. The artist proves to be just as resourceful as she collects and repurposes bits and pieces of paper, photographs, musical instruments, car tags, buttons and a host of other everyday objects for use in her works.

Through this series, Baker asks us to never forget the people and the adverse conditions under which they lived but thrived.

Baker is a full-time artist from Atlanta, GA. whose work can be found in many prestigious collections including the Apex Museum, Atlanta; Essence Communications, NY and the Coca-Cola Company, Atlanta.

We have once again partnered with the Charitable Film Network for an exhibition that explores the changing complexion of Black and Latinx solidarity in Louisiana and beyond. The exhibition highlights the creative work and advocacy of individuals that are building Black and Latinx power through common struggle and unity. The works on view include drawings, paintings, photography, and short films.
