A tribute to DC artist Dr. Clayton Joshua Lang_ Jr.

Dr. Clayton Joshua Lang, Jr. has worked over thirty years as an art educator. He taught courses in Design, Museum and Gallery Seminar, African-American Art and African Art. In addition, he served as the Director of Galleries at his home institution, Bowie State University. He has recorded over a dozen gallery talks with visiting artists that have been aired on BSU-TV which reaches thousands of viewers across Prince George’s county. He has successfully facilitated the appraisal of the University’s Art collection and was seeking funding to produce a catalogue.

Professor Lang has traveled to Ghana, West Africa and was involved in developing a Study Abroad Program to Africa. He was seeking partnerships and collaborations with organizations that share his interests in building cultural and educational bridges between Americans and Africans.Professor Lang is also an accomplished visual artist, who has been practicing his craft for over thirty years. His chosen medium of artistic expression is leather. He has developed a line of wearable art accessories as well as a body of sculptural forms. He has exhibited in venues across the United States. His work can be found in the collections of the National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center in Wilberforce, Ohio, the Coach Leather Collection in NYC, University of Maryland and several private collections.
