NEON MUSEUM ANNOUNCES 2018 NATIONAL ARTIST IN RESIDENCE

The Neon Museum announces the call for entries for its 2018 National Artist Residency. Now in its third year, the Neon Museum National Residency offers a U.S.-based artist or group of artists the opportunity to explore and interpret the Neon Museum collection within a wider context. The local community will be invited to engage with the artist and his or her work during the residency period. The residency was made possible through grants from the Nevada Arts Council, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
The successful entrant will be selected based on demonstrated artistic excellence, quality and clarity of the proposal, quality and benefit of the proposed public program and demonstrated ability to complete the project within the allotted schedule. The residency spans eight weeks with some flexibility between June 1 and Aug. 31, 2018. The Neon Museum provides a $2,000 stipend, living accommodations for eight weeks, a 1,000-square-foot studio space and a modest, negotiable budget for materials.
Eligible artists must live in the United States and work in the field of visual arts, performance, sculpture or sound and be over the age of 18. Applications are due Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, by 5 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. Click here for application instructions.

Public education, outreach, research, archival preservation and a grant-funded neon sign survey represent a selection of the museum’s ongoing projects.
