BET BLACK CANVAS DESIGN CONTEST: HBCU EDITION

IN HONOR OF THE 50th ANNIVERSARY OF “SOUL TRAIN”

New York, NY – October 25- To mark the 50-year milestone of iconic Black cultural institution Soul Train, BET is holding the Black Canvas Design Contest – HBCU Edition for graphic artists/illustrators who attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities. One individual winner will have their artwork featured on merchandise on the BET STORE website, receive a $2,500 cash prize, win a trip to the 2021 “Soul Train Awards” (pending eligibility) and receive a $5,000 donation to their HBCU. The submission period runs from Monday, October 25 – Sunday, October 31, 2021.

The “BET Black Canvas Design Contest” is part of an ongoing commitment by BET to celebrate and amplify Black creativity as a means of actively re-engineering how BET leads as the only media brand that represents the fullness of the Black experience. “BET Black Canvas” affirms BET as the destination for all forms of Black creative expression – for Black creators, Black talent and the BET audience, reflecting the world through a Black lens in our marketing and in the content we create.

The 2021 “Soul Train Awards” recognizes the best in Soul, R&B, and Hip Hop from both established industry legends and the next generation of promising artists. For the first time in its 33-year history, the annual celebration will tape the World Famous Apollo in New York City. The 2021 “Soul Train Awards” premieres Sunday, November 28 at 8 pm ET/PT on BET and BET Her.
