Black Fine Art Fair of Ohio debuts November 11th  – 14th

Inaugural fine art show to feature Black Masters alongside contemporary artists

The inaugural Black Fine Art Fair of Ohio will be held November 11 -14 at 345 E. Fifth Ave. in Columbus.  The Fair, hosted by KBK Foundation and Golden Galleries, is the first of a series of planned national Black art fairs.   The show will feature works by recognized Black masters, as well as works by contemporary Black artists.  The Ohio State UniversityOffice of Diversity & Inclusion is the strategic partner for the Columbus Fair.   The Black Fine Art Fair is free to attendees.

The four-day fair will open with an invite only reception on Thursday, November 11, and during its run will feature exhibitions by some of the country’s preeminent Black art galleries and artists. Works by masters including Richard Mayhew, Phoebe Beasley, Sam Gilliam, David Driskell, and Richmond Barthé will be featured alongside the work of contemporary artists like Charly Palmer, Kerry James Marshall, Najee Dorsey, Kevin Cole, Dana Todd Pope, Kevin Nance-West, Heather Polk and Thomas E. Keith Golden, the founder of Golden Galleries in Colorado, is the fair organizer and curator.  He formed Art by Golden in 1992 as an art education and investment firm, now named Golden Galleries. Golden is known nationally for delivering high quality, white glove service to clients’ art acquisitions, and is a noted art lecturer for corporations, museums and private clients.

Golden is partnering with Keith Key, founder of KBK Foundation for the Ohio show with the goal of advancing Black culture through appreciation of art. Key’s 501c3 KBK Foundation will be the beneficiary of the art auction held during the opening reception on November 11.

“My belief has been that we need stronger representation of African American fine art in major shows, and rather than waiting for that to happen I have created a synergistic show that showcases some of the most esteemed Black artists and galleries in the country,” says Golden.  “The larger world is now expressing an interest in works by Black artists, but most important to sustaining our artists is that Black collectors remain invested in their work.”

Key is the chair of the KBK Foundation and president & CEO of Keith B. Key Enterprises. His firm offers a host of banking disciplines and entrepreneurial skills in operations and finance.  Key has been involved with over $1 billion dollars of real estate development inclusive of residential, commercial, and religious-oriented projects. Keith is a graduate of The Ohio State University and is a former OSU football player.

“What we’re doing is developing, promoting and educating show goers on the need for Black collectors to support Black artists, offered Key.

Hours for the Black Fine Art Fair of Ohio are Thursday, November 11 from 6:30 pm – 9 pm (Invite Only); Friday, November 12 from 5 pm – 9 pm; Saturday November 13 from noon – 8 pm and Sunday November 14 from 1 pm – 6:30 pm.  For additional information contact Keith Golden at 303-907-9413.
