Comment on BAIA BITS: William A. Harper by Janet A. Nussbaum https://earthexhibitions.org/media-archive/?p=12260#comment-394 Wed, 11 May 2022 23:28:32 +0000 http://media-archive.blackartinamerica.com/?p=12260#comment-394 Nice job on the William A. Harper story and reading. He is an artist who deserves to be much better known. An important fact that you failed to mention, however, is that his paintings currently hang in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and in the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture in Washington, D.C.

It would also be appropriate if you would give credit to the source of your material: http://www.williamaharper.com

Comment on Is there a Place for Black Christianity in Contemporary Art? by Celeste Lindsey https://earthexhibitions.org/media-archive/?p=12053#comment-393 Fri, 15 Apr 2022 17:04:47 +0000 http://media-archive.blackartinamerica.com/?p=12053#comment-393 This article speaks to my soul! I follow a lot of Black musicians (including Tobe Nwigwe) whose art “bridges the gap” between Christianity and the secular world… but it’s extremely hard to find (at least for me) the same thing from Black artists in the visual arts scene.

Part of why I create is to provide—in my own way—a sort of “transition” between these two worlds. This is the first time I’ve ever felt heard and seen as an artist in this aspect, outside of speaking with the one or two artist friends of mine who have similar feelings.
